ArcGIS Survey Analyst is an extension to the ArcGIS family of desktop products that allows you to manage survey data in a geodatabase and display survey measurements and observations on a map.

ArcGIS Survey Analyst is an extension product for ArcGIS Desktop 9.3.1 and earlier (it will be deprecated at ArcGIS 9.3.1 and will not ship with ArcGIS 10). ArcGIS Survey Analyst has had two distinct parts: the Survey Editor and the Cadastral Editor. The functional capabilities known as the Survey Editor will no longer be supported in ArcGIS 10. Users who require these tools should continue using ArcGIS 9.3.1. The functional capabilities known as the Cadastral Editor and its Cadastral Fabric dataset are included in ArcGIS 10 (ArcEditor and ArcInfo) without a requirement to install or license any extension. The parcel editing functions have been greatly improved and are accessed through a new Parcel Editor toolbar in ArcMap. The Cadastral Fabric dataset has been enhanced and renamed the Parcel Fabric. ArcGIS 10 includes new geoprocessing tools to assist with migrating parcel data modeled as coverages or simple feature classes to a Parcel Fabric.

Note: The Parcel Editor toolbar will not be a component of ArcView. ArcView customers who have previously licensed ArcGIS Survey Analyst will need to migrate to ArcEditor or ArcInfo in order to use the Parcel Editor technology at ArcGIS 10.

No Shipping or Handling Charges

U.S. unlocking license / registration codes for all ArcGIS extensions ordered from CMC are usually sent by email within one business day.

Product Details

ArcGIS Survey Analyst is an extension to the ArcGIS family of desktop products that allows you to manage survey data in a geodatabase and display survey measurements and observations on a map.

Because measurements are stored in a GIS database, survey computations and adjustments can be performed on these measurements to determine GIS coordinates (of survey points), and GIS features can be linked and snapped to the surveyed points in the survey layer. In addition, new GIS features can be added to existing GIS feature layers using the survey-computed locations.

ArcGIS Survey Analyst Provides Storage and Management of Survey Data in a GIS Database

Survey Analyst is an extension to ArcGIS that is used to store and manage survey points, measurements, and computations. Survey Analyst allows survey professionals to work with and maintain survey data within the ArcGIS environment.

Survey Analyst manages the relationship between the control network and the GIS data and represents this using link lines and error information on coordinates. The data that comprises the control network can be a collection of observations from field notes, survey equipment, and data collectors. Over time, feature geometry can be incrementally improved through the Survey Analyst work flow.

Using ArcGIS Survey Analyst, surveyors can easily incorporate their measurements and calculations into GIS databases to serve as a control framework for the various departments and applications within in an organization.

Why Use ArcGIS Survey Analyst?

Survey Analyst provides tools to support organizations where surveyors and GIS technicians work together in an integrated system. ArcGIS Survey Analyst allows you to:

  • Improve work flow where survey data and GIS data are closely related.
  • Add new GIS features based on surveyed locations.
  • Maintain survey data within ArcGIS in a structure that complements the project-based work flow used by surveyors.
  • Integrate survey measurements using observations from field notes, survey equipment, and data collectors into a GIS database.
  • Manage and process survey data with a set of comprehensive tools.
  • Compute raw observation survey data using computations such as traverse and least squares adjustment.
  • Create custom importers and tools using a standard development environment.
  • Improve spatial quality and evaluate the accuracy of existing features based on surveyed locations.
  • Incrementally improve feature geometry quality by linking survey features to GIS features.

Who Uses ArcGIS Survey Analyst?

Surveyors use Survey Analyst to manage the survey control network on which the spatial quality of the database is based. GIS professionals use Survey Analyst to improve the accuracy of existing GIS features or locate new features in the GIS database based on survey data.

Where the management of survey data and the linkage between survey points and GIS features are important, Survey Analyst addresses the needs of:

  • Survey engineering firms
  • The GIS community using survey data (public and private sector)

ArcGIS Survey Analyst is also used by organizations that create and manage GIS infrastructure including:

  • Government-based organizations
  • Private sector firms
